The first Wednesday of Home Economics we made pita pockets.

Ingredients:
  • Ham
  • Lettuce
  • Cheese
  • Carrot
  • Red Onion
  • Mayonnaise
  • Pita Pockets
First we sliced the ham, shredded the lettuce, grated the cheese, gated the carrot and sliced the red onion into cubes. Next we got our pita pockets cutting them open to start filling. After that we started filling the pita pockets with the ingredients. I filled my pita pocket with ham, lettuce, cheese, carrot and red onion and for the sauce I used mayonnaise. I liked it but maybe next time it would be better if the pita was toasted because it was a little bit dry.

Apple crumble - Home economics

On Wednesday a little while ago for home economics we made apple crumble.

Ingredients:
  • Brown Sugar
  • White Sugar
  • Rolled oats
  • Cinnamon
  • Apples
  • Butter
  • Water
  • Flour
Method:
  1. Put flour, cinnamon and brown sugar into a bowl.
  2. Rub butter lightly into the mixture.
  3. Add rolled oats and mix with a fork.
  4. Dry the apples and peaches, cutting them into little pieces
  5. Divide evenly spooning the mixture into 4 little greased pie dishes.
  6. Sprinkle with white sugar and water
  7. Bake on fan bake for 10-15 min or until edge is going brown.
  8. Serve and enjoy

It tasted weird because their was to much oats and it wasn't cooked for long enough, so it was a bit gooey and raw. But it also took along time to make because of the apples.

Apple sauce muffins - Home economics

 Apple sauce muffins

Last Wednesday in home economics we made apple sauce muffins, we all got given a substitutions for our muffins apart from my group instead we got chocolate chips.

Original recipe no substitutions - It wasn't good but wasn't bad so it was okay, but I found it a bit raw and a bit much of some sort of liquid. But it was probably the best one out of all of them due to having the chocolate chips in them.

Canola and soy - I didn't like this one because it was to soggy and chewy so it may not of got cooked for long enough. Or it may be due to the substitutions that got added instead of the normal ones.

Butter and wholemeal flour - It was quite bad because they're was way to much oats because they're was whole meal flour and other oats added into the recipe.

Soy and wholemeal flour - It was quite bad because it was really chewy i'm guessing it was due to the whole meal flour and oats, but it was very bad I couldn't even eat it.

Canola and wholemeal flour - They put to much much baking soda in it was gross, and not enough of every other ingredient in the mixture so their was to much oats.

Butter and soy - It had a weird taste but it might've been because of the substitutions or they added to much baking powder. But this one was cooked well.

This is our recipe we had for the apple sauce muffins -

Coraline notes

Opening scene:

What happened - Coralines other mother grabs doll through a window and un stuffs the doll and then continues to  stuffs it to make it look like Coraline.

Camera shot/angles - Close ups, as showing details of dolls when its getting constructed. No wide shots included in this scene, so it doesn't give away the identity of the person.

Music - Slow, suspenseful and scary. Its a made up language so it sounds sweet and innocent sung by kids. The only real word is dreaming. Genre = classical music.

Colour - Green, black, aged and old filters and also a cream colour. Feels as if the doll was made a while ago.

Lighting - Artificial light/lamp, Natural light as in the moon. It is a very dull and deemed light, because it needs to set the mood of the scene.

The real house/world :

What happened - Feels as if its abandoned, faded pink, old and run down, peeling paint, dead. Weather looks cold, grey, misty and wet.

Camera angles - Wide angles/shots shows the whole house.

Music - Background noises, also a lot of diegetic sounds. So sounds that that happen naturally like footsteps.

Colour - Faded, dark and cloudy, because it tries to make it spooky.

Lighting: Natural lighting from the sun behind the grey clouds. It is very dim and cold. It makes the location feel very unpleasant.

Extra notes - There is a birds eye view of Coraline and it makes her seem small as the music starts speeding up and getting louder to make her feel cautious of what shes doing, and then a cat pops up and everything freezes and goes still. Whilst everything still remains dull and dark. The transition from in the woods to in the kitchen was very well done. When she is in the kitchen she has a lot of close ups and low angles. But the mood is still very cloudy and dark.

Character comparison

Real world

Describe - Cranky, Strict, hard working, they care about Coraline but don't show it. They look as if they are run down and tired due to having black bags under their eyes, pale skin and washed out.

Costume - Worn, faded, baggy clothes and very plan and lazy clothes.

Lighting - Cold, dull and artificial and a bit of natural lighting.  Isolated, dark and lonely lighting.

Colour - Pale, bone dry, faded and of course Coraline and the cats eyes is the only bright thing in the real world.

Music - No music just diegetic sounds.

Other world

Describe - Bright, energetic, friendly and looks like they have time for Coraline. Other father waiting for Coraline and while the other mothing is cooking. Look more fit with rosy sking and more alive.

Costume - Bright colours, more fashionable, newer, fancy and fits better. Fitted nice clothes.

Lighting - Bright, artificial, saturated and warm\happy with a welcoming feeling.

Colour - Bright warm toned colours, vibrant, everything is eye catching. A welcoming place you'd want to be. Coraline blends in better.

Music - Happy music, piano is being played by other father. Other mother is always humming a creepy song. Minor scary feeling when the other mother hums.

Character comparison: Neighbours

Describe - Weird, eccentric, dismissive and crazy. Keeps calling her Caroline even though she corrects them all them time. Talkative and self absorbeted.

Costume - Old worn, baggy clothes are too big, Mr b in too small outfit, miss spink d Forrible clothes don't fitting, not presentabe.

Lighting - Foggy, dull and natural lighting. Makes as if you don't want to be their.

Colour - More colours of the clothes on people and their hair. But its not as bright and still quiet faded tones of colours. Still lots of bland colours.

Music - Old fashioned, but they all have their own types of music.

Other World

Describe - The things that Coraline didn't like about her neighbours changed, and they started using her proper names. Look more younger and more appealing. The colours are more vibrant and bright colourful. Wybie can't talk.

Costume -

Lighting -

Colour -

Mac and cheese - Home economics

A few weeks ago we made mac and cheese.

We gathered all the ingredients together such as pasta, cheese, cornflour, onions, ham, garlic, tomato and seasonings. We boiled the pasta and made a cheese sauce in the pan. We then combined the pasta and sauce together added onion and let it cook for at least 5 minutes. Put it in the oven to cook and then ate it with the tomatoes on top.

I thought it tasted a bit different from my mac and cheese at home, but it wasn't the worst thing I've tasted. The smell was alright and it looked not cooked enough.

7/10 some of my group didn't know what they were doing and started mucking around. But I fixed it and went with another group the week after making mac and cheese.

This is a photo like my mac and cheese.

Spaghetti Bolognese - Home economics

2 weeks ago we made Spaghetti Bolognese in home economics.

We prepared our ingredients such as got the mince, pasta and seasonings. Grated the cheese and cut up the onion. We then boiled the pasta and cooked the mince, and combined it together. Lastly we severed it with melted cheese.

It tasted alright but would've been better if I added more salt and pepper. It looked a bit sloppy but that's what it is supposed to look like, and it did smell nice.

I give my group an 8/10. It could've worked better if some people didn't just stand around and if someone didn't have to move from my group.

This is what my worked looked similar to.

Potato Frittata - Home economics

On Wednesday in cooking we made potato frittata.

We cut up and cooked the potato. Put it in the pan added the egg and proceeded to add any optional ingredients or vegetables of your choice, we added onion, peas, corn and broccoli. Lastly we put it in the oven took it out after 5 minutes and added cheese.

It smelt better than it tasted. But it also looked more like a big omelette with potatoes in it.

I rate my food a 4/10. Because I thought it could've tasted a lot better than it did probably because we didn't add as much vegetables as everyone else. But also the potatoes took forever to cook.

Did my team work well together ?
- I think we did work well together because everyone was contributing to cooking and getting everything prepared. But when it came to the dishes after eating the food, My team members disappeared and left me and another girl to do all of them.

This is what my food looked like.
